I have to say that I like Veronica Lodge much more than I like Betty Cooper.
Veronica is real. She has personality faults, like greed and impulsiveness. Betty is far too perfect. She’s pretty, smart, athletic, nice, and still has time for socialization. She’s a Mary Sue. And the whole “Who will…
Dare I disagree?? Yes. I dare. Betty’s problem IS Veronica. She seems like a Mary Sue but every once in awhile she surprises you. Honestly though her imperfection is Veronica Lodge. After all if that imperfection wasn’t there who would be with her but a certain Archie? Veronica has her imperfections this is true, but Betty belongs with Archie. Why? Because Archie is a Gary Stu. Sure he’s broke and clumsy but what teenage guy isn’t? truthfully Veronica belongs with someone with a personality; and I’m not talking about Reggie either.

My friend,
do you realize the same answers are coming out of everyone’s mouth
no matter how different they may be
You can call for advice
on more than four people
and they will all tell you the same thing
in so many words
Do I have your attention friend?
Do you realize you’re alone?
do you realize no one is really listening?
You can scream and cry out
you can tell them horrific lies to get pity
you may try everything to try and make them sound less repetive
but it won’t work
Do I have your attention young ones?
you will not be forever young
you are not invincible
you will notice the repeat phrases more so than anyone else
Do I have your attention adults?
you are depressed
you take it out on the young ones
STOP IT
they must lead their own lives
Do I have your attention old ones?
you do not remember the answers
so you keep asking
and you will still get the same answers
as you have all your life
but you don’t remember
Do I have your attention spirits?
leave
you will not find your answers here
Do I have YOUR attention?

She clings to her stuffed animal
even though she’s reached sixteen
she wishes she was five again
and not a lonely teen
If only she could still believe
in fairy tales and dreams
she wouldn’t have to cling so tight
to the little thing with seams
She still remembers playing
with her little dolls and things
She still remembers playing
in the sunshine
on the swings
But what she can’t remember
is what bothers her the most
She can’t remember how she played
without feeling all alone
She can’t remember what it was
that gave her so much joy
and that’s what makes her sadder
when she looks upon her toy
She clings to her stuffed animal
hoping for an answer
but all she gets is a little smile
and a stare that says it loves her
She clings to her stuffed animal
somehow feeling better
and before she gets too tired
she tucks it in beside her
She clings to her stuffed animal
closing her eyes at the bell
and falls asleep pretending
that it’s asleep as well.
(I wrote this in march of 2010 on a plane and I think it’s one of my best poems.)
